Andrew Tuttle

Gettysburg High School 9th grade to 12th grade Science Teacher

I grew up in small town Burke, SD.  My parents, Mark and Jane, still live their today.  I have two brothers, Luke and Josh, who both currently reside and attend school in Sioux Falls.  I graduated from Burke High School in 2009.  I then attended and Graduated from The University of Sioux Falls in 2014 with a Bachelor’s of Science in Biology, and a Bachelors in Secondary Education.  I spent a year substitute teaching in the Sioux Falls School District during the 2014-15 school year.  I am now starting my second year here at Gettysburg High School and I am teaching Biology, Biology 2, Physical Science, Chemistry, and Chemistry 2 in the 2016-17 school year.

I believe as a scientist and a teacher it is my responsibility to challenge and support my students, in pursuit of three learning goals:

  1. confront and learn about crucial scientific ideas and principles
  2. learn basic concepts
  3. cultivate an interest in science and an understanding of science
