Dear Gettysburg Patrons,
I am happy to be starting my second year as the Gettysburg Schoolís superintendent. I am starting my 23rd year in education, with 19 of those years being an administrator. I received my Bachelor and Masterís degree from Northern State University in Aberdeen, South Dakota in 1993 and 1998 respectively. I received my Specialist Degree in 2012, from the University of South Dakota in Vermilion, South Dakota. My wife and I just celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary. We have two grown sons, Nathan 24 and Ryan 22 (GHS Class of 2014), and we have a daughter, Hannah in the 8th grade. From 2002-2006 I was the JH/HS principal in Gettysburg. We liked being in Gettysburg so much, that when the opportunity presented itself in 2012, we decided to come back. Gettysburg has become our home, so we are deeply vested in how successful the Gettysburg School District is today, and will be in the future.
We are very fortunate to have such a great group of students, staff, teachers, parents, and a very supportive community. We have great things happening in our schools. We are working ever so hard to make the studentsí experiences here in the Gettysburg School District successful ones. We want students here every day learning. We love having your students in school every day. Student attendance is key to the achievement, and success of our students.
If you have any questions at all about school, please feel free to call so we can point you in the right direction to best answer your questions.
Yours in Education,
Chip Sundberg, Superintendent
Gettysburg School District
