As we start our 2018-2019 school year, I welcome you all back to another phenomenal year of school! My name is Kelli Nagel and I am a Elementary Special Education teacher in Gettysburg. This is my 18th year in education. My teaching experience includes teaching Kindergarten, 2nd grade, a Reading First Coach, a Literacy Coach, the Dean of Instruction, a Reading Recovery teacher, Grades 4th, 5th, and 6th English Language Arts teacher and Special Education! Iíve been around almost every block in Elementary!
As for education, I have a passion for promoting that learning is for life! We are all lifetime learners regardless of what path we choose! I earned a bachelorís degree from Black Hills State University in Elementary Education and Special Education, a Masterís degree in Literacy, and last year accomplished a life goal of earning a Doctorate degree in Educational Leadership. I often get asked about what Iím going to do with my Doctorate degree, and the answer I have right now is ďto make a difference in otherís lives!Ē Sometimes, earning a degree isnít all about the job you get, itís about the impact it makes on yourself and others!
Prior to starting here in Gettysburg, I spent 12 years of teaching in Fort Worth, TX before moving back to my South Dakota roots. I spent a year teaching in Rapid City and 4 years in Onida.
I have learned a lot from my experience working in other school districts! All of us learn at different paces in different places, I hope to make a positive impact on all my students!
I have 3 classroom expectations that all of my rules fall under:
