My name is Mercedes Lemke and I am the new Agriculture Education Instructor and FFA Advisor here at Gettysburg High School. I grew up in Cokato, Minnesota and graduated from Dassel-Cokato High School which is about six hours East of Gettysburg. After graduation, I attended South Dakota State University and graduated with a degree in Agriculture Education and Communications.
During my years in high school and college I was actively involved within the FFA programs. In high school, I had the opportunity to compete at the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, Indiana for parliamentary procedure CDE. I also participated in agriculture sales, floriculture, and marketing plan. During college, I has the opportunity to judge parliamentary procedure at the National FFA Convention.
I firmly believe in the three circle model of agriculture education which is classroom, SAE and FFA. I hope to provide all three of these aspects in my classes. It is my hope that throughout this year we can continue to grow the legacy of agriculture education and FFA in Gettysburg.
