Ten Middle School students from Gettysburg had the honor of playing in the Northwestern Music Festival last night with 200 other students from the area. The chorus and band each played 5 songs and one finale combined song that students practiced all day together to perform for a grand concert at 7 pm. The band was conducted by SDSU band director Dr. Kevin Kessler and Chorus by Mrs. Sara Olson from St. Thomas Moore Catholic School in Brookings. Thanks to our band director Katrina Smith for submitting applications and taking students to this great experience! Chorus students: Cerissa Chase, Carson Kilian, Emma Lake, Harper Oster, Ariel Lemler, and Jessica Nadgwick. The Elementary Student Council under the advisors Sally Simon and Kirsten Hansen delivered their classroom toy and book donations this morning to Little Sprouts Daycare Center! A very proud group of students and excited kiddos at the center!

Grades 10-12 heard a presentation today about the BUILD DAKOTA SCHOLARSHIP. This full-ride scholarship is for students interested in attending a technical college and pursuing a career in a South Dakota high need area. Juniors and Seniors also attended Post High School Planning Day (College Fair) in Mobridge in the morning. This group of students shared their talents with the school this afternoon. We saw a student with loads of flexibility and saw cheerleading stunts. We heard our school song, cheers and even heard a piano performance. We heard musical solos, finger snapping, and even saw outstanding football throwing. It was a great show!

Avera Gettysburg Clinic will be coming to the school to provide influenza vaccines to the students and staff on Wednesday, October 8th from 10:30am-12:00pm. Please fill out the attached form if you would like your child to participate. The vaccine will be submitted to insurance. This past week, the Biology 2 students dove into the amazing integumentary system! On Wednesday, they got hands-on and made awesome 'skin cakes' to show off all the different layers and parts of the skin. It was a sweet way to learn science!
