🏆 BATTLER OF THE WEEK: Nash Fischer 🏆 This week’s Battler of the Week is 7th grader Nash Fischer! Nash is balancing both Cross Country and Football and proving that hard work carries over everywhere he competes. This past week, he stepped up to race varsity twice, finishing 2nd in Mobridge and 15th at the Redfield Invitational, where he ran a new PR of 19:40! 🔥 Nash continues to challenge himself, compete hard, and put in the work. That is exactly what being a Battler is all about. Congrats, Nash! 💪🏃‍♂️🏈

🏐 Battler of the Week: Alexis Kellogg 🏐 Alexis had an outstanding week on the court, including her best performance yet Thursday against North Central. She played all five sets with fewer than three errors and no serving or hitting errors! She carried that consistency into Saturday’s YTC Tournament, where the Battlers finished 2nd, while continuing to encourage and support her teammates. Alexis’ consistency, work ethic, coachability, and positive attitude make her very deserving of this week’s Battler of the Week! Congratulations, Alexis! ❤️🤍🖤

Yesterday was a truly a full-circle moment for the Gettysburg community. DJ Fischer was a cherished member of our community. He was generous, involved, kind, and someone who genuinely cared about the people and places that made Gettysburg home. Following his tragic passing, DJ’s family and friends created the DJ Fischer Foundation to continue that spirit of generosity by giving back to the Gettysburg community in his honor. Each year, DJ’s Grip It & Sip It brings people together to celebrate DJ’s life and to raise money to continue his legacy of giving. Yesterday, that legacy came full circle in a way that could not have been more meaningful. The 1st place ( Pitlick) and 3rd place (Heien) teams generously chose to donate their winnings to The Kindness Cafe, a special project started by DJ’s own niece, Izzy Mikkelsen. Izzy created The Kindness Cafe as a vocational learning opportunity for students in our Gettysburg Life Skills program. Through the cafe, our students are learning real-world skills like taking orders, handling money, budgeting, communication, time management, responsibility, and so much more. But perhaps most importantly, they have found a place where they can contribute, succeed, and feel an incredible sense of pride and purpose. And now, because of the generosity of these teams, DJ’s legacy of giving back is directly helping his niece and the very students she works so hard to empower. To the 1st and 3rd place teams, please know that your generosity means so much more than a donation. You are investing in our students, supporting Izzy’s vision, and helping carry DJ’s spirit of kindness and generosity forward. We are incredibly, incredibly grateful. Thank you for helping us keep DJ’s legacy alive in such a meaningful way.
