Please join us in congratulating Johanna on her outstanding achievement! She has been selected to attend the Youth Leadership Forum (YLF) this summer. After applying and interviewing months ago, she was recently notified that she is one of only 45 students chosen from across the entire state. We are so proud of you, Johanna!

For parents/guardians of students who would like to participate in the Pig Project and haven't registered yet, here is the letter that was sent a few weeks ago that may have stayed stuffed in your kiddos backpack! If interested in participating, please register now, and come see us next Tuesday night, the 24th at 7pm! Attention Students and Parents/Guardians, On behalf of the Gettysburg FFA Chapter, we invite your child to participate in the FFA Pig Project! The Pig Project is an opportunity for elementary/middle school students (current 3rd-7th graders) to care for and raise a pig over the summer at the school pig project grounds and then show their pig at the Potter County Fair (August 3-4th). It’s an opportunity for children to be directly involved with animal production agriculture and to understand animal handling. Throughout the summer students in the pig project will help with multiple chore days, learn about the swine industry, attend pig washing days and be present all day Monday and Tuesday of the Potter County Fair to show their pig. Note: In order to show at the fair as part of the Pig Project, students will also need to be registered as a Potter County 4-H member. We will get you information regarding this at our Pig Project Trainings (or YLL trainings). The pig project is open to ALL current 3rd-7th grade students. SD 4-H requires that they be at least 8 by January 1, 2026, and complete a YLL training- which will happen all in one night that the child and a parent/guardian must attend. Everyone must attend 1. Current 7th graders can participate if they were pig project members last year. To participate in the 2025 Pig Project, register your student by Tuesday, March 10th, 2026 at: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScWygVAitxHpnXgxCn6rIBWcJaiFi6ApLqTKlos8ghWkzPRnA/viewform?usp=header Throughout the project students will be taught and supervised by Liam Lehman and Anastasia Penrod, Pig Project Student Coordinators. Once students are registered, Liam and Anastasia will be in contact with further details. After March 10th, we will only contact registered students and their parents indicated on the registration. We are eager to continue this wonderful tradition and can’t wait to work with your child. Thank you for considering this amazing opportunity, and we look forward to seeing your student become part of the FFA Pig Project! Thank you. Sincerely, Sarah McClure
