There will be a menu change next Tuesday. We will still have a chicken sandwich, but the enchilada bake will be changed to a hot dog. The beans will be baked instead of spiced pinto beans. Thank you.

Good afternoon, Battlers!
I wanted to send a short note regarding the Facebook post and news story circulating about a high school student finding a syringe containing fentanyl on a sidewalk in Gettysburg. I spoke with Chief Mogard of the Gettysburg Police Department, and he verified that the syringe was not found on school grounds. We are grateful the student notified police right away, as fentanyl poisoning is part of a very real and terrifying epidemic of accidental overdose deaths in our country.
Unfortunately, no community, including the small town we love and call home, is safe or immune from illegal substances. Let's use this event as an opportunity to educate and remind our children, family members, and neighbors about the dangers of fentanyl poisoning and the importance of reporting anything suspicious right away. Please make your children aware that the smallest amount of fentanyl can be deadly. It can be absorbed through the skin, so remind them NOT to touch or pick up any suspicious looking objects.
Our staff has been trained and will be discussing safety reminders with our students. Local law enforcement will also be coming to the school soon to provide more education.
To that smart high school student out there...THANK YOU for doing the right thing, you probably saved a life. Battler family, let's all continue to work together to keep our school and community safe! -Superintendent Mikkelsen
